ABP support for Apprenticeships



The Association of Business Practitioners (ABP) is a not-for-profit UK awarding organisation which develops and accredits business related, professional qualifications, from short courses to postgraduate diplomas, delivered through accredited colleges.  We at ABP support young people’s careers and fully back the apprenticeship scheme which has enabled us to help develop an apprentice’s career.

The apprentice Raheem Charles has been working with ABP since the 31st of October.  He has quickly settled in and contributed significantly to the running of the company. ABP is delighted to have Raheem as part of the team and will continue to invest in his development.

Raheem says ‘My apprenticeship process began at South London Business (SLB).  After a month I had an interview with ABP were I was made to feel part of the team straight away. To help me further progress and gain a full experience of the work environment the staff have given me a variety of tasks to do which has helped me gain a greater  insight into the opportunities for my business career. These have ranged from developing social media campaigns utilising Facebook and ABP’s blog, research for publicising our new Islamic Finance Qualifications, researching international business development opportunities, database management, customer relationship marketing and budgeting.’

Ofqual Recognition for our Islamic Finance Qualifications

We are pleased to announce the recent recognition of our newly developed Islamic Finance programmes by Ofqual, a UK Government department with responsibility for the regulation of qualifications.

If you represent a centre take the first step in offering the Islamic Finance qualifications by completing and submitting the ABP Application Form.

Qualifications

  • Level 7 Certificate in the Essentials of Islamic Finance and Banking
  • Level 6 Diploma in Applied Finance and Banking
  • Level 5 Certificate in the Concepts of Islamic Finance and Banking

These three new qualifications cover the principles and applications of Islamic and Sharia compliant finance and banking.

These qualifications test learning from level 5 to level 7 on the Ofqual QCF.

Benefits

  • Accessible and flexible introduction to Islamic Finance and Banking – Level 7 & 5

  • Enables development of a financial manager’s knowledge and abilities in terms of the application of the foundation principles of Islamic Finance and Banking – Level 6

  • Progression routes onto the ABP Postgraduate Diploma in International Finance Management. Furthermore, UK university progression routes onto Masters and MBAs are currently being negotiated.

Programme Content

The Islamic Finance programmes are work-related and have been developed with the needs of today’s employers in mind.

The Level 5 Certificate in the Concepts of Islamic Finance and Banking and the Level 7 Certificate in the Essentials of Islamic Finance and Banking cover the foundation principles of finance and banking in this context, with the “Essentials” qualification looking for more detailed understanding from the candidate. This level 7 “Essentials” qualification is also an optional component in the ABP Postgraduate Diplomas in International Finance Management.

The Level 6 Diploma in Applied Islamic Finance and Banking comprises of one of the foundation modules plus a unique module considering the application of this strand of finance.
